In 2021 we conducted a joint allergy and immunology census to collect data on a national scale that could be used to build a picture of service provision across the UK.
Dr William Bermingham from University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, lead on the project to analyse and present the data.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we were very grateful to receive data from 26 centres across the UK and Republic of Ireland. These data provide a unique insight into the current structure of clinical immunology services, including staffing patterns, patient base, therapies and access to allied health services. In addition, the continuity of the QPIDS program allows for pre and post pandemic trends in immunoglobulin provision and format of outpatient services to be visualised, demonstrating the significant changes managed by clinical immunology services in response to COVID-19. We would like to thank Dr William Bermingham and all services who took time to complete the census.
